Talks 2022

This is the work in progress list of performances that are going to place in the Education Space, off the main hall, this year.

10.30am: Jez Sings Things (Music)

Described as an “anarchist Victoria Wood” Jez plays keyboard and writes clever witty songs that will change the way you think. She has extensively gigged on her own steam all around the UK and Europe.

11.15am: Matt Broomfield (Poetry)

Matt reads from his book Brave Little Sternums Poems from Rojava and talks about his three years living and working in Rojava, North and East Syria, in solidarity with the anarchist-inspired, women-led direct-democratic revolution there. 

12.00noon: Julian Langer (Reading & Discussion)

Julian Langer reads from his book Affirming The Open: An Ontological Anarchist Manifesto, with a discussion afterwards on the open, Temporary Autonomous Zones, and organising.  Bring your own manifesto!

1.00pm: Pirate Press (Poetry/ Anarchist Bingo)

Sheffield’s Pirate Press present an hour of poems and Anarchist Bingo

2.00pm: Isaac Hughes-Dennis (Music)
Isaac is a politi-folk comedy musician and occasional magician who combines eloquent wit, upbeat tunes and bold political statements for the pleasure and entertainment of any given audience.

2.45pm: Earth First! Gathering (Workshop)

The general principles behind Earth First! are non-hierarchical organisation and the use of direct action to confront, stop and eventually reverse the forces that are responsible for the destruction of the Earth and its inhabitants. The next EF! Gathering will take place in the North of the UK from the 10th-12th of February.
